So I am starting my blog. With the help of my friend Val, here is 2009 in review.
1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?
I ran my first 5K and met my goal of finishing the entire race without walking.
I spent Thanksgiving away from my family for the first time ever, we spent Thanksgiving in Maine with my husband's family.
2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I did not keep my resolution for 2009. But I started my 2010 resolution early, in November of 2009. I will not complain about my commute to work. I will just be thankful to have a job and a car to get me to that job.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My brother and his wife had a baby. My niece Brynnley was born in October.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Grandpa died in September.
5. What places did you visit?
We went to New York City for a long weekend in January. Ocean City, NJ for Easter Weekend, very cold and windy. We traveled to Minnesota in September and Maine in November.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
More time to enjoy my hobbies. I would like to finish at least 2 quilts. I would also like to read some more books.
7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Spending New Year's Day in Key West by traveling to the Dry Torguas National Park in a Catamaran with my husband. Buying our new house on July 31, 2009 and the fight that broke out between the people we were buying the house from during settlement.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Running my first race, 5K. Making the silk curtains for our family room.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I don't ever look at failures, they are just opportunities and I choose not to remember them.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Thankfully no.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Our new house.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My mom. She had a tough year.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Some of the people that work for me.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Fixing up my new house.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My new niece.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier!
b) thinner or fatter? Fattier
c) richer or poorer? Tough one! I feel more blessed but I don't think I have more money in the bank
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Relaxed and enjoyed the ride
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Worring and crossing off a to-do list.
20. How did you spend Christmas in 2009?
With my family at my house. My grandmother even travelled from Minnesota for the holiday.
21. Did you fall in love in 2009?
I was already there!
22. What was your favorite TV program?
Amazing Race I want to be a contestant.
23. What did you do for your birthday in 2009?
Went to my parents house and my Mom made me my normal homemade Carrot Cake
24. What was the best book you read?
"The Help" by Kathryn Stockett
25. What did you want and get?
A new car
26. What did you want and not get?
A new camera
27. What was your favorite film of this year?
I am a bad movie watcher... I can't stay awake. But I just saw "The BlideSide" and it has inspired me to be more selfless. It also made me change my mindset to what I have and not what I don't have in life.
28. Did you make some new friends this year?
Yes.
29.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
It was a really satisfying year. Probably the best in my life so far.
30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Add a piece of jewelry, it make the outfit.
31. What kept you sane?
My husband.
32. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Frank Sinatra
33. What political issue stirred you the most?
The election of Obama. I wish we had a culture that didn't have to focus on his race but the job he is doing in office.
34. Who did you miss?
Some of my friends from high school. I wish we could get together more often.
35. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.
Let people love you for who you are not what you think they want you to be
